Product Overview
Plastic Automotive Vent Caps are ventilation system accessories designed for various motor vehicles, typically installed on vents/breathing holes in doors, body panels, or specific components. The main function of plastic screw-in vents is to balance internal and external air pressure, prevent the ingress of contaminants such as water, dust, and sediment, while allowing air to pass through. This prevents vacuum or pressure buildup inside components due to temperature changes, thus protecting internal mechanisms, the performance of lubricants/greases, and extending their service life.
Product Structure and Materials
Main Structure:
Plastic automotive vent caps are typically manufactured using a one-piece injection molding process, resulting in a compact structure. Basic components include:
- Top Dust Cover/Cap: Prevents vertical water and large particles from entering directly.
- Labyrinth/Multi-channel Ventilation Structure: Internally designed with winding channels, allowing slow airflow to achieve pressure equalization while effectively blocking liquid water and most dust.
- Mounting Interface: Typically secured with snap-on, threaded, or clamp types, featuring a sealing ring to ensure a tight fit with the vent body and prevent leakage.
Core Material:
Material: Plastic Screw-in Vents primarily use engineering plastics such as PA, POM, and PP.Characteristics include:
- Excellent Weather Resistance: Can withstand long-term UV radiation, ozone, and high/low temperature cycling without easily becoming brittle or cracking.
- Excellent Chemical Corrosion Resistance: Resistant to water, salt water, various oils, lubricants, and detergents.
- High Strength and Toughness: Possesses good mechanical strength, impact and vibration resistance, and is not easily broken in harsh road conditions and engine compartment environments.
- Lightweight: Lighter than metal parts.

Main Functions and Advantages
- Protective Sealing:
Highly Effective Water and Dustproof: Prevents high-pressure water from car washes, rainwater, mud, dust, and grit from penetrating the interior of precision components, avoiding oil emulsification, part wear, and corrosion.Extended Maintenance Intervals:
Maintains Oil Cleanliness: By effectively isolating external contaminants, it significantly extends the service life and oil change intervals of transmission fluid, gear oil, and lubricating oil.
- Protects Critical Components:
Protects internal mechanisms such as bearings, gears, differentials, and steering gears, reducing abnormal wear and lowering the failure rate.
- Improved Reliability:
Reduces vehicle malfunctions caused by clogged vents or water ingress, such as differential/transmission overheating, oil seal leaks, and four-wheel drive system malfunctions, especially suitable for harsh operating conditions such as off-road vehicles, commercial vehicles, and construction machinery.

Scope of Application

Vehicle Types: Passenger cars, SUVs, off-road vehicles, pickup trucks, trucks, buses, special vehicles, all-terrain vehicles (ATV/UTV), agricultural machinery, construction machinery, etc.
Mounting Locations:
- Front and rear differential ventilation ports
- Transmission/transfer case ventilation ports
- Engine crankcase ventilation system
- Axle ventilation ports
- Fuel system
- Other vehicle-mounted equipment requiring waterproofing, dustproofing, and ventilation.
Installation and Maintenance Guide
Pre-installation Inspection:
- Identify the location and condition of the original vehicle's air vents and piping.
- Select a vent cap model that matches the outer diameter of the existing air duct.
- Clean the original air duct interface, ensuring it is free of oil and dust.
Installation Steps:
- Snap-on Type:Press the connector end of the vent cap vertically into the ventilator duct until you hear a "click" or feel a firm tightening.
- Threaded Type: Screw the vent cap into the corresponding threaded connector. Do not overtighten; just tighten until it feels secure to the touch to avoid stripping the threads.
- Ensure a secure installation without any looseness.
Installation Location Recommendations:
- It is recommended to extend and secure the vent cap to a high, relatively clean location on the vehicle body, away from areas splashed by wheels, for optimal protection.
Regular Maintenance:
- It is recommended to check the vent cap every 10,000-20,000 kilometers or during each routine maintenance.
- Check for blockages, damage, and loose connections.
- For models with filters, clean or replace the filter periodically depending on the usage environment.
- If poor ventilation or damage is found, replace it immediately.
